Friday, December 16, Anacron returns to the stage at Hollywood's legendary Dragonfly night club for a Pajama Holiday Party featuring several of L.A.'s best and brightest bands. Anacron will be accompanied by "LAbX: The LAb eXperiment" album producer, Josh Jetson, and visiting GalleryDeeJays Chicago member Shon Roka.

Sharing the stage with other L.A.-based buzz-worthy groups like Conquistador, Badwater, and Scarlet Ivy; Anacron's music will be a staple throughout the night, performing songs between each band's live set. Presented by local Los Angeles indie music promoter aficionado, Mike A Presents, this event is going to be an awesome interpretation of the true meaning of holiday spirit.

West L.A.'s quintessential dub-rap crew, King Fantastic, rocks a fabulous live set early this week at the Sea-Thos / Sojourn charity show at the west side nightlife gem, Central. Blazing through their usual hits with a casual ferocity; King Fantastic rocked the crowd as usual, leaving a lasting impression on both fans and charity supporters in attendance.

Killer Reese 1 of King Fantastic with Mr. Floss Angeles himself, Basik MC. The original Bleu Collar exhibited the best, as true west coast underground professionals tend to do.

King Fantastic producer, DJ Troublemaker, rattled the speakers with his signature dub-hop sound before shuffling the audience's feet with a great DJ set of dubstep remixes of every day club hits.

The "Diss Track" lives! Kool Keith comes... well, kind of "hard" (in is own way, I guess) in this beef starter aimed at former comrade Jacky Jasper. Not quite sure exactly what started this beef, or if anyone remotely interested in real hip hop music will give a damn; but the track is funny nonetheless. Not in a "damn, he clowned this guy, what a roast" kind of way, more so in a "this is how Kool Keith raps all the time" sort of way.

If you've been up on that real West Coast underground music since the early 90's you may already know the crew name; however, you might not have known that the crew is still active both independently and as a group. This full-length release from White Mic will dispel any pre-conceived notions about OG crews being able to keep it relevant, as this is one of the freshest and most up to date albums that has dropped from the bay area underground in a while. Featuring a revolving-door lineup of guest talents, and riotously bangin beat production, the album is a certified heater from front to back, easily earning it the UNFAMOUS seal of approval.

Isn't it funny how talented geniuses that were mostly ignored by popular culture become trendy icons when they die? The ever-growing "appreciation" of Jay Dee (yeah, folks that were rocking him way before the "Donuts" era still call him that) is a perfect example of how the mainstream underground can latch on to something pure and precious to reinforce how "down" they are.

Here's a tip: Latch on to under appreciated talents BEFORE they are gone. Love them while they are alive, not when you hear the friend of a friend of a local celebrity mention their name and what a tragedy it is that they've passed away.

Maybe Jay-Z could release a special line of Knocawear that resembled something that someone would actually wear to an event beyond climbing out of the trunk of a tiny little clown car in the center of a Barnum & Baily Big Top Circus tent. If not that, he could sell some of the little Black kids that stitch the hoodies together into slavery.

Maybe Puffy, Didddy, Sean, or whatever name he's going by this year, could get off a few bottles of Ciroc and some Sean John underwears for a couple bucks. If not, I'm sure he could sign the last 10 girls he banged and create a light-skinneded Black girl supergroup that would pull in a couple million with their first platinum release...

Maybe Tricky Dick Ross could finally dig into those Swiss bank accounts and release a few stacks that he saved up during his many years of moving that white powder. Because he actually sold drugs, you know. While he was a corrections officer, at that. And his actual name is Rick Ross.

Maybe Dr. Dre could pull in those millions he's racked up since the release of "Detox", and -- oh wait, I mean since the release of his "Beats By Dre" headphones. If not that, he could at least helm an NWA tribute album featuring the long-lost members of the original Aftermath artist roster.

Speaking of Aftermath, maybe everyone's favorite White Boy could finally release those rap songs that Benzino and The Source exposed back in 2004. No one seemed to care back then that the the top profit from Black music was going to a White guy that was making rap songs with racist slurs and lyrics just a few years before, but maybe now the sheer novelty of it will get a little more attention.

It doesn't really matter who decides to step up and start throwing some money at the guy that virtually CREATED this culture that so many people profit from. It just needs to happen soon.

Respect the architect; it's bad enough that half of these dummies have no idea where this art came from, but the least they can do is provide some assistance for the Godfather of Hip Hop, the man, the myth, the one and only Kool Herc.

We just had to use the group name as the title on this one, which we rarely ever do -- but damn, ain't it a fresh name? Here's some secret footage from the Zzyzzxx blog of a recent Kurtis Blow / Mellow Man Ace show.

If you don't know after watching that, Zzyzzx is a group consisting hip hop legend Mellow Man Ace and his son Cazal. Melding new school flavor and style with old school sensibility and foundation, Zzyzzx exhibit the kind of chemistry that only family could share.
